New Chapter: Couch to Curious
A Journey into Mindful Exploration
On Tuesday 8th April, we wrapped up our New Chapter: Couch to Curious series — six weeks of curiosity, creativity, and connection, shared across fortnightly Zoom sessions and mindful activities in between.
The idea was simple: slow down, tune in, and reconnect with the part of ourselves that wonders, plays, and notices the little things. Because curiosity isn’t something we grow out of — it’s something we can grow back into.
What is curiosity, really?
We opened the series by exploring this question together. Not with textbooks or checklists — but through reflection, conversation, and quiet pondering. We discovered that curiosity doesn’t demand answers. It invites presence. It asks us to look again, go deeper, and find joy in not knowing.
Between sessions: playful exploration
Each fortnight, participants received creative prompts to explore in their own time — small, sensory invitations to step outside routine and reconnect with nature, play, and perspective.
We balanced stones into gentle sculptures, wrote haiku, and tried our hand at crafting windchimes and mobiles from natural materials. (That last one gave many of us pause — not because of the task itself, but because it stirred up self-judgement. Would it look “good enough”? Was it silly? And in sitting with those feelings, we discovered where curiosity meets courage.)
We listened to mystery sounds. Played with obscure, delightful words. Took time to ponder and percolate. Some activities were easy to slip into. Others felt like a stretch. But all of them offered space to notice, reflect, and grow.
Connection and kindness
Our Zoom sessions gave us a grounding point — a chance to share, reflect, laugh, and gently support one another. Even though much of the work happened solo, we never felt alone. The shared experience of trying, noticing, and sometimes struggling helped create a safe, open space for curiosity to flourish
The impact
Participants told us they found the series beneficial — not just in the moment, but in how it nudged them to carve out time, challenge perfectionism, and engage with the world around them in new ways. Some tasks were tricky, but all were worthwhile.
Where next?
While this series has come to a close, curiosity lives on — in the way we pause to listen to birdsong, notice a patch of sunlight, or gently ask, “What if I looked at this differently?”
To everyone who joined us — thank you. Your presence, playfulness, and honesty made this series a true joy
We’re delighted to share that the same course will return in Autumn 2025 — offering another opportunity to slow down, explore, and reconnect with curiosity.
Here’s to keeping curiosity alive — one moment at a time
