The Problem
Poor mental health is on the rise and businesses are feeling the pressure. Mental ill health is responsible for a staggering 72 million working days lost and costs businesses £34.9 billion each year in the UK
Just some of the effects companies have been seeing is increases in sick leave, absences, presenteeism, conflict, communication breakdown, discrimination lawsuits, unmotivated staff, and unmet targets.

Presenteeism

This is where employees turn up for work but are unable to be productive due to struggling with their mental health. Presenteeism accounts for 2 times more losses than absences. 45% of workers admitted to suffering with this in 2019.
Absenteeism
Mental ill health is the number 1 cause of sickness absences in the UK. Nearly ⅘ of employers’ report stress-related absence in their organisation over the last year. The problem is no doubt bigger than we know as 1 in 5 people take a day off for stress and 90% of these people cited a different reason for their absence.
Discrimination lawsuits
As Mental Health is covered within the Equality Act 2010, employers may face a rise in discrimination lawsuits. In certain circumstances, for example if an employer fails to make reasonable adjustments, they could become liable to pay damages were a successful claim to be brought in the Employment Tribunal.
Over 1⁄5 of businesses report that mental health is the primary cause for long-term absence with a significant increase in the number of reported common mental health problems among employees in the last 12 months, there has never been a more crucial time to act.

If a business joins the programme, staff will gain access to mental health resources that will enable them to assess, learn about and improve their own wellbeing. They will then receive direction & guidance on which areas of the content to focus on that are bespoke to their situation. Individuals will set action plans and complete activities to develop new healthy ways of dealing with life's challenges - staff can then use the progress tracking tools, such as the wellness assessment and progress reviews to track their personal development.

The programme covers 10 key areas of wellbeing including resilience, emotions, direction and more. Mental Wellness Connection will be achieved through interaction via 1-2-1 sessions, WhatsApp, email and Facebook. Staff will have access to the weekly Energise online group as well as live online Rest-Reset-Refocus events. These events will be hosted by an industry expert speaker who will give a bitesize masterclass in their area. The session will end with a half-hour guided relaxation.
